Accounts Receivable Representative

Greater Chesapeake Hand to Shoulder is seeking a knowledgeable, motivated, organized individual to work claims follow-up for major commercial insurance and patients for both physician and facility claims.

Job Description
Under the supervision of the Billing Manager, performs a variety of accounts receivable and collection duties. Provides support to the front desk and medical secretaries in addition to other members in the Billing Department. Position answers phone calls from patients, insurance carriers, other employees and multiple other sources. This position responds to routine inquiries regarding a patient’s balance on their account(s). Follow up on claim denials, outstanding balances within established guidelines.

Regular hours are Monday – Friday, 8 am – 4:30 pm.

Experience and Skills Required

  • A minimum of 1-3 years of receivables experience within a large medical practice.
  • Familiarity with CPT, ICD9 and ICD10 coding required.
  • Prior work experience must include working in a high-volume, physician practice, facility (ASC), and reimbursement operation environment.
  • Requires organizational skills to organize daily work to reach predetermined goals.
  • Requires strong interpersonal and communication skills in dealing with peers, management, physicians, patients, and payer representatives.
  • Familiarity with medical billing software.
