Dr. Ryan M. Zimmerman is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with a certificate of added qualifications in hand surgery. He believes in providing prompt, compassionate care and finding the right treatment for each patient. He specializes in treating conditions of the hand, wrist, shoulder, and elbow in adults and children.

Education & Training

Dr. Zimmerman earned his medical degree from Johns Hopkins and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Harvard. During his residency, he served as the chief orthopedic resident at Massachusetts General Hospital. Soon after, he completed a hand and upper extremity fellowship at the Raymond Curtis National Hand Center at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.

Dr. Zimmerman is very active clinically and dedicates time to teaching and research with residents and fellows from Johns Hopkins, Georgetown, and MedStar Union Memorial Hospital. Dr. Zimmerman has written numerous peer-reviewed manuscripts, book chapters, and patient educational materials and presented at national and international conferences.
