Workers’ Comp FAQs
Am I eligible for Workers’ Comp benefits?
Generally, most employees who are injured as a direct result of their job duties are eligible for workers’ compensation. This applies regardless of who was at fault for the incident. It is important to note that eligibility rules can vary by location, so it is important to understand your local Maryland regulations.
What types of injuries are covered by Workers’ Comp?
Workers’ comp generally covers injuries that occur as a result of your job. This includes injuries caused by falls or accidents at work, resulting in:
- Fractures of the wrist, elbow, or arm
- Torn ligaments, such as a rotator cuff tear
- Dislocations, including shoulder or elbow dislocations
- Repetitive strain injuries, such as carpal tunnel syndrome
- Tendonitis or bursitis caused by repetitive motions
- Nerve compression injuries, like cubital tunnel syndrome
- Severe sprains to the wrist, forearm, or elbow
What should I bring to my IME appointment?
We kindly ask that you bring a photo ID with you to your IME appointment. Any relevant medical records, reports, and test results related to your injury, along with a list of your current medications, will be sent to our office prior to your appointment. During your appointment, it may help our physicians if you provide a summary of your symptoms and details about how the injury occurred.
What steps should I take after my IME?
After your Independent Medical Examination (IME), our physician will provide a report to the requesting company within five (5) business days. You should maintain open communication with your case manager or lawyer to address any questions you may have.
