MEDICAL BILLING REPRESENTATIVE
A rare opportunity for an experienced Medical Billing Representative to work Accounts Receivable needed for the Greater Chesapeake Hand to Shoulder.
FUNCTIONS: Under the direction/supervision of the Billing Manager, performs a variety of accounts receivable and collection duties. Provides support to the front and back office secretaries in addition to other members in the Billing Department. Position answers phone calls from patients, insurance carriers, other employees and multiple other sources. This position responds to routine inquires regarding a patient’s balance on their account(s), as well as submits claims, performs follow up on insurance claims, corrects claims and appeals claims. Professional demeanor is paramount with multi-tasking necessary to complete the many aspects of this job.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have excellent communication skills. Candidate must be able to multi-task, and be detail oriented. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Position entails prolonged sitting and typing with extensive computer and telephone use. Lifting is limited.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Ability to read, write, speak, understand and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of the position. Knowledge of ICD-10, and CPT and HCPCS coding a must. Candidate should have at least three (3) years of medical billing office experience including contacting major medical payers, workman's comp and commercial insurance payers. Experience with Allscripts Practice Management and SRS EHR is a plus. Experience with Medicare a plus. Above average typing skills needed, as well as an ability to work independently, excellent communications skills, organizational skills and flexibility are required.
Hours: Full-time, Monday through Friday. No major holidays, or weekends.
