Christopher L. Forthman, MD

Christopher L. Forthman, MDChristopher L. Forthman, MD, is a Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon with a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Hand Surgery.  Dr. Forthman earned his Medical Degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. He completed his general surgery internship at the Massachusetts General Hospital and his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Harvard.   He served as a Chief Resident with an emphasis on complex shoulder, hand and elbow surgery.    Dr. Forthman performed a Hand and Upper Extremity  Fellowship at The Raymond M. Curtis National Hand Center at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.

Dr. Forthman is the recipient of numerous professional awards and honors, including:

  • The Leonard Marmor Award for Highest In-Training Scores in the Harvard Orthopedic Program
  • Outstanding Research in Orthopaedic Surgery by the International Board of Shoulder Surgery, Washington, DC
  • Baylor Outstanding Achievement in Orthopaedic Research
  • Michael E. DeBakey Scholar Award

Dr. Forthman serves on  Clinical Operations, Emergency Services and Research Committees at Curtis National Hand Center. He hosts a weekly indications conference with Orthopaedic and Plastic Surgeons to review the management of complex upper extremity disorders.  Dr. Forthman has authored various book chapters and his  many research studies are published in prestigious peer-reviewed medical journals. He presents locally and nationally on problems of the shoulder, hand and elbow.

Dr. Forthman is distinguished as a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and as an Active Member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. He is also a member of the Maryland Orthopaedic Association.

James P. Higgins, MD

James P. Higgins, MDJames P. Higgins, MD, is Board-Certified in Plastic Surgery with a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Hand Surgery. He recently successfully completed the 2011 examination in the Subspecialty of Surgery of the Hand. Dr. Higgins earned his Medical Degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine. He completed his Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Residency at the University of Rochester. He performed a Hand Surgery Fellowship at The Raymond T. Curtis National Hand Center at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore.

Dr. Higgins is the frequent recipient of professional awards and honors, including:

  • 2010 American Society of the Hand Travelling Visiting Professorship

Dr. Higgins is the Chief of The Curtis National Hand Center at Union Memorial Hospital of Baltimore.  As such, he has the responsibility of leading the clinical, administrative, research and teaching functions at the prestigious Curtis National Hand.

His numerous research studies and clinical trial research projects are published in prestigious peer-reviewed medical journals. He is a sought after national and international presenter and visiting professor. He is a member of many national societies and committees in the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, American Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery and the American Society of Plastic Surgery.

Peter C. Innis, MD

Peter C. Innis, MDPeter C. Innis, MD, is President of Greater Chesapeake Hand Specialists, as well as a Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon and Hand Surgeon. Dr. Innis recently successfully completed the 2011 examination in the Subspecialty of Surgery of the Hand.  He earned his Medical Degree at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. He performed his General Surgery Internship and Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital, followed by a Hand and Microvascular Fellowship at The Raymond M. Curtis National Hand Center.

Dr. Innis holds the positions of Attending Surgeon at Curtis National Hand Center, and the Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore and Assistant Professor at the Department of Orthopaedics at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He has served on the Hand Policy Committee at The Raymond Curtis National Hand Center, and the Union Memorial Hospital Board of Directors,He has also served as Secretary/Treasurer, Vice Chief of Staff and Chief of Staff on the Union Memorial Hospital Medical Executive Committee  He currently serves on the Johns Hopkins Garrett Board.

Michael A. McClinton, MD

Michael A. McClinton, MDMichael A. J. Russell Moore, MD

J. Russell Moore, MDJ. Russell Moore, MD, is a Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon and Hand Surgeon. Dr. Moore earned his Medical Degree at State University of New York, Downstate. He completed an Internship in General Surgery and Residencies in Orthopedic Surgery and served as Chief Resident at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Moore is an Associate Professor, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. He has expertise and special interest in Joint Replacement Surgery of the elbow, shoulder and hand.

Michael S. Murphy, MD

Michael S. Murphy, MDMichael S. Murphy, MD is Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery and Hand Surgery.  Dr. Murphy voluntarily recertified his credentials in 2005.  He earned his Medical Degree from the University of Rochester in New York.  He completed a General Surgical Internship, Research Fellowship in Surgery, General Surgical Residency, Orthopedic Surgical Residency- as Chief Resident of Orthopedic Surgery, at the New York City University Medical Center.  Dr. Murphy performed a Hand Surgery Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

Raymond A. Wittstadt, MD

Raymond A. Wittstadt, MDRaymond A.
